If you want diesel, Ford offers a 2.7L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V6 that makes 325 hp and 400 lb.-ft. Both Ford and Toyota offer trailering packages, and with proper equipment and depending on your engine choice, both can tow more than 8,000 pounds.

The F-150 XL is work truck trim, and the XLT is geared more toward the average consumer. The XL includes the Ford Sync infotainment system, a 4.2-inch centralized screen, a four-speaker audio system and air conditioning. An optional 101A group adds Bluetooth and USB. The XLT includes all of that and upgrades the infotainment setup to Sync 3, an 8-inch color HD touchscreen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The standard equipment also includes a forward collision mitigation system with automatic emergency braking. The base Tundra boasts a 7-inch touchscreen, the Android and Apple software and a six-speaker audio setup. Toyota also offers a robust driver assistance package that includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams and lane departure warning.
