When you come down and choose your next Explorer, you'll have a few options available to you. The base-level XLT and highest Platinum trim come with some significant differences to understand. For example, the XLT comes with body-color door handles while the Platinum offers additional satin aluminum inserts. LED fog lamps are optional on the XLT trim, but they are standard equipment on the Platinum trim. Additionally, you'll get a liftgate on both of the trims, but only the Platinum model comes with satin aluminum trim. The mirrors on the XLT come with power and heated glass with LED turn signal indicators. The Platinum adds driver-side auto-dimming and a memory function to remember mirror settings.

Both the 2019 and 2020 models contain similar interior features, but the 2020 model includes some added features to the entertainment options. You'll also get a better transmission on the new models. Move from a 6-speed transmission to a 10-speed transmission just by getting the 2020 model year.
